Good Friday

Article for Good Friday April 3, 2026 John 12:23b–24  23b  “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Jesus seems to ignore a question asked by Philip who asks what we should do with these Greeks and foreigners.  Instead, Jesus goes into a discourse of lament over not His life but our life.  Jesus knows it is a time that will

Maundy Thursday

Article for April 2, 2026 Maundy Thursday Matthew 26:23–25  23 He answered, “He who has dipped his hand in the dish with me will betray me. 24 The Son of Man goes as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born.” 25 Judas, who would betray him, answered, “Is it I, Rabbi?” He said to him, “You have said so.” A shocking statement was presented to the Apostles while they were eating t

Palm Sunday Parade

Article for March 29, 2026 Palm Sunday Luke 19:29–31  29 When he [Jesus] drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount that is called Olivet, he sent two of the disciples, 30 saying, “Go into the village in front of you, where on entering you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever yet sat. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say this: ‘The Lord has need of it.’” Passover, maybe we should embrace it more and celebr

Moses on Mount Sinai- 10 commandments

Article for Wednesday March 25, 2026 Exodus 34:1–3  1  The Lord said to Moses, “Cut for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. 2  Be ready by the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to me on the top of the mountain. 3  No one shall come up with you, and let no one be seen throughout all the mountain. Let no flocks or herds graze opposite

God has power over life and death

Article for Sunday March 22, 2026 John 11:3–4  3 So the sisters sent to him, saying, “Lord, he whom you love is ill.” 4 But when Jesus heard it he said, “This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” This could be a long article but not so much in the sermon.  Lazarus, a close friend of Jesus was ill and eventually dies.  Jesus hears from Martha and Mary who sent a messenger to tell Jesus that His friend

God is keeping the door open for us

Article for Wednesday March 18, 2026 John 12:40–41  40   “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and turn, and I would heal them.” 41 Isaiah said these things because he saw his glory and spoke of him. Isaiah saw Jesus Christ not so much in the flesh as he saw Jesus in the Spirit of God.  Isaiah was not influenced by man but by God.  The world we live in is more influenced by man because the world w

We have a God who understands

Article for Sunday March 15, 2026 John 9:39–41  39 Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.” 40 Some of the Pharisees near him heard these things, and said to him, “Are we also blind?” 41 Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no guilt; but now that you say, ‘We see,’ your guilt remains.” Jesus speaks to the man He healed from being blind at birth and now can see.  Those of the wor

If God seems far away, who moved?

Article for Wednesday March 11, 2026 Leviticus 26:40–41a  40 “But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers in their treachery that they committed against me, and also in walking contrary to me, 41 so that I walked contrary to them and brought them into the land of their enemies— Some wonder if there is a God.  Some wonder if there is a God that left us.  Many think that God does not care, and if there is a God why does He let us suffer or allow bad thi

Justified by Faith

Article for March 8, 2026 Romans 5:1–8  1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. We truly believe and know that our works and obedience to the law does not save us.  We put our faith in that Jesus Christ has justified us to the Father who opens the gateway to everlasting life.  Thoug

Repentance, Pride and Judging

Article for Wednesday March 4, 2026       Repentance extends beyond confession alone ; true believers must desire reconciliation with God and resolve to cease serving sin, self, or other authorities, instead committing to live according to God’s will.  Merely admitting wrongdoing while refusing to submit to God’s truth about change doesn’t constitute repentance—rather, repentance means agreeing with God’s evaluation of sin and willingly following His direction forward. Positi

Boast in God for your righteousness

Article for Sunday March 1, 2026 Romans 4:1–3  1 What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh? 2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. 3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” There is a massive amount of people who believe they need to be good to go to church.  Also, there are as many who think only the good will go to hea

Don't miss the everyday signs

Article for Wednesday February 25, 2026 Matthew 12:38–39 38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” 39 But he answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. Many people do not believe there is a God because they do not see Him.  Many people want to see at least a sign or miracle that will make them believe.  And many want a

The Free Gift Freely Given

Article for February 15, 2026 Romans 5:12–14  12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned— 13 for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. 14 Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come. We are starting the season of Lent.

Treasures in Heaven

Article for Ash Wednesday February 18, 2026 Matthew 6:19–21  19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” I have said this before; we put more importance on this life than we do on our real life to come.  That i

The Transfiguration of Our Lord

Article for February 15, 2026 2 Peter 1:16  16 For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. Oh, to be an eyewitness to the coming and life of Jesus Christ.  So many years has passed since one saw Jesus Christ with their own eyes.  But there where eyewitnesses who not only saw Jesus, but they also walked with Jesus and saw the miracles and signs of the one true God

Jesus came to fulfill the Law

Article for Sunday February 8, 2026 Matthew 5:17  17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Jesus Christ has made Himself known to the world around Him.  Not the whole world but in part that which is the people of God, the Israelites.  We know Israel was brought up on the laws God gave to Moses for His people Israel.  God’s laws are what we know as the Ten Commandments.  The law has certain deman

“Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”

Article for February 1, 2026 Micah 6:8 8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? God has told us through His word what is good and right and bad and wrong.  Yet the world wants and thinks it has the right to choose for themselves what is right and what is wrong.  And the people who believe, or say they believe, step aside many times and let the world rule.  Our world

Not by our works, but by HIS righteousness

Article for January 25, 2026 Matthew 4:12–14  12 When [Jesus] heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee. 13 And leaving Nazareth he went and lived in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, 14 so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: We know that Jesus was born in Bethlehem and moved to Egypt for a while to escape from Herod who wanted Jesus dead.  Jesus went from Egypt to Nazareth after Herod died and now Jes

“God chose a people and made a covenant”

Article for January 18, 2026 Isaiah 49:1–2 1 Listen to me, O coastlands, and give attention, you peoples from afar. The Lord called me from the womb, from the body of my mother he named my name.  2 He made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me a polished arrow; in his quiver he hid me away. According to the “Peoples Bible Commentary,” this, Isaiah 49:1–7, is a conversation between God the Father and God the Son.  These verses follow what

“Why were you looking for me?”

Article for January 4, 2026 Luke 2:40–42  40 The child [Jesus] grew and became strong, filled with wisdom.  And the favor of God was upon him. 41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom. One Hundred percent boy and one hundred percent God.  I would almost bet that Jesus matured faster than any other boy at that time and even in our time.  This is one hundred percent boy, b
