Who do you think you are?

Romans 14:1–2 1As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. 2One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables.

Do you have great faith?  And how do you measure that faith.  Do you measure it by the works you do?  Do you measure your faith by how many times a year you attend church services?  Or do you measure your faith by comparing it with others?  I know, I ask too many questions. 

If you put someone down because in your opinion you think your faith is greater than theirs, then you might want to remeasure your own faith and take it down a notch.  Our opinions may work against our faith as we forgot to show grace towards our neighbor whom we judged to have little faith.  We are all weak at times, and we are all strong at times depending on what we face in a day.

It doesn’t seem to take much for us to launch our opinions out at one another and then become haughty over our self-proclaimed victory.  We are all equal in the eyes of God because we all do as much bad as we do good.  Think about that.  We are not here to judge one another but to help one another.  We are all weak for one another, and we are all strong for one another.  We should all contemplate on this; we are all God’s children in need of forgiveness.

Romans 14:3–4 3Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. 4Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

You pat yourself on the back because you think you do more than everyone else.  Or you criticize one because they do not do the same things you do.  Or you complain about someone because they do something the same as you might do it. 

So, the question is, “4Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another?”  Are you, or do you, think you are greater than all, that we should bow to you.  I hope not because I for one bow down to God alone and will not bow to another.  Being humble like that of Jesus is our mission to ourselves.  Being humble to one another shows love and a helpful hand for those made to feel lesser, whom we should lift up.

Fear God and love God, this means we fear what we might appear to God as and try to show the same humbleness of Jesus Christ.  Be Imitators of Christ as this shows your love of Him and your love towards one another.  After all Jesus did not come to condemn us, He came to save us.  Should we not imitate that which is the wishes of our Lord.

Romans 14:5–6 5One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord.

Each day brings its challenges and each of us observes how we will face that daily challenge.  Some will take the challenge to heart where others will meet the challenge head on.  The challenge is not to take to heart or to take it head on, rather that we first go to God and through prayer ask God to guide us through the challenge before us.

God will help us in every challenge, but we need patience and willingness to listen to God and follow His guidance.  You think God does not speak to you but listen with more than just your ears.  God presents answers in many ways so open your eyes, open your mind to the spirit of life who is the Holy Spirit.

The day is before you, live it in the spirit instead of in the flesh.  How to do that is in prayer, in word, and in love for God.  It works, you just have to practice every day.  This is just another reason to be in a study group of those you trust and trust you.

Romans 14:8–9 8If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. 9For to this end Christ died and lived again, that He might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.

We belong to God and we should want to belong to God.  He made us, Jew, Gentile, Mexican American, United States American, Canadian American, or any other people in this world.  We belong to God, we are His children, we are all brothers and sister in Christ Jesus.

Jesus died for all peoples past present and future before there were the many countries that the world has produced.  Jesus suffered for all, died for all and was resurrected for all.  Jesus did this so that we can all be saved to live an eternal life with Him in true harmony, peace, and Love.  Amen.
