We are all Sinners who Need a Savior

Romans 11:1–2a 1I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! For I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin. 2God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. . . .

An answer given that many of our esteemed theologians should read and take in.  Some will say the Jews now worship a different God because they do not believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God.  It is true that some of the Jews do not recognize Jesus Christ as the Son of God.  My question is if the glass is half full or half empty, are we looking at the same glass?

I believe that most if not all Jews are worshiping Yahweh, but they do not worship the whole God of the Jews and the Christians.  It is not for us to judge others but to act in brotherly love to lead others to worship the whole of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Our wish should be to let God work through us that all people may be led by God to salvation.

To many attitudes get in the way of God working through us.  Let us put our attitudes in check and lead with the heart of love and love for God’s will.  That should not be a yoke too heavy or too much a burden for us to carry as true believers.

Take heed to the attitude of this world, it is trying to take everything away from us and your complacency will help the world succeed.  It is not what you can do, it is what we can do with the help of God.  The world will destroy itself, but do you want it on your resume that it happened on our watch.

Romans 11:13–15 13Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry 14in order somehow to make my fellow Jews jealous, and thus save some of them. 15For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead? . . .

Paul seems to make a plead to his fellow Jews who are rejecting Jesus Christ and their salvation.  Jews are people of the law and will be judged by the law.  This is not a good outlook for the Jews or anyone who thinks they will make it to salvation on their own merit.

We are all sinners so if those who do not believe, yet desire salvation their jealousy may lead them to search out Jesus.  If the unbeliever looks for Jesus, then Jesus will find them and lead them towards reconciliation.  Again, in their belief they have now been given as Jesus finds them, they will see salvation in life eternal.

Romans 11:28–29 28As regards the gospel, they are enemies of God for your sake. But as regards election, they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers. 29For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

As regards to the gospel anyone who does not believe and confess that Jesus Christ is our resurrected Lord will not receive the gospel.  Not receiving the gospel makes those unbelievers enemies of God.  Not that God is their enemy but that they have chosen to be an enemy of God.

As regards to election all whom God has made a covenant with will be loved by God and therefore always have the opportunity to salvation through Jesus Christ.  Every promise of God will be fulfilled to all God has made a promise to.  Here it is! All of God’s gifts and callings are irrevocable!  This is an assurance of God’s word and promises.

Romans 11:30–32 30Just as you were at one time disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, 31so they too have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may now receive mercy. 32For God has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all.

It is not that the Jews are worshiping a different God but that they, like us, are being disobedient.  Look, we are all sinners and we the pot are always trying to call the kettle black.  Here God is calling us all the kettle and all black in our hearts as we continue to be disobedient.  Does the saying we all need a savior mean anything to anyone?  If we are all in need of the same thing then let us reason that we all need to help one another achieve knowing the one who is giving the free gift.

Jesus died for all sin, Jesus forgives all sin except the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, yes, I know.  Jesus did all for all and we need to recognize that there is no one better than anyone else.  We all need a savior, and Jesus Christ is that savior for all who will believe.  Our salvation counts on the grace and mercy promised by our savior and be assured this is already a promise kept.  Amen.
