Deuteronomy 5:12–14a, c 12“‘Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. 13Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 14but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you.
Some worry too much about intricate details and therefore go off to the far left or the far right of what should be the center. Notice what has been said in this paragraph from Deuteronomy. Work six days and rest on the Sabbath day. It does not say work Monday through Saturday and take Sunday off to rest.
It seems that we interpret the Sabbath as Sunday or Saturday by some. We get too tied up in laws and rules to try and do things right, yet we miss the boat and sink anyway. What is really being said is one should work 6 days and take the Sabbath day to rest. Whether you work Monday through Saturday or Wednesday through Monday is not the point. The real crux of it all is to make a Sabbath day and keep it Holy. This is God’s command remember the Sabbath. We know that the third Commandment says to remember it and keep it Holy.
What day did God start to create the world? Was it Sunday, Monday, or mid-week? Truthfully there was no calendar at that time and as far as I know the calendar is man-made. And to go a step further there was no clock or sundial at the time God was creating. So, we do not even know what time of day God started. In other words, God is the one in control not man or woman. God does everything in His time not ours if you can call it God’s time who lives in the IS.
Deuteronomy 5:15 15You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore, the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.’”
God does a lot for His people whether Jew or Gentile. The world has certainly forgotten this, and it did not take a lot of time for this to happen. As the world pats itself on the back for all the world thinks its accomplished, God is not just sitting on His heavenly throne.
God is not just watching the world destroy itself with its forced ignorance. Rather, God is all around us protecting those who believe and have not forgotten Him. So let us remember what He has accomplished for us. Praise and thanks giving is a good way to worship our Lord and God.
Yes, we should remember the Sabbath and keep it Holy as our rest is the Holiness of God’s Day. Yes, we should also praise and thank the Lord who brings us out of the slavery of sin and gives us the freedom of true life. Let’s bring back the blue laws and keep God’s commands and obey them through praise and thanksgiving.
2 Corinthians 4:8–10 8We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 9persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 10always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.
I think these verses say it all as we are attacked every day and in many ways. But as we die to sin, we who believe know we live to Christ. We will suffer many trials in this life, and that is why they call it the good fight. Our life seems like we are fighting a battle to live a good life, but rest assured we will see that good life in our life eternal. If you are sitting here and listening or listening from home, let’s thank God for everything He has gotten us through.
God will not forsake us, He promised this to His people Israel and He promises not to forsake all believers of Jesus Christ too. Our stand should not be against each other but that we stand together as we do now in worship to our Father in Heaven, our Savior Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit who sanctifies us and brings us to Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:11–12 11For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12So death is at work in us, but life in you.
Though we are given and even give ourselves to death, for Jesus’ sake we are also given to life eternal because of what Jesus has done to save us. This is the mighty warrior who fights for our lives and wins. We should never forget that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, Jesus was also resurrected for our lives to live with Him our Lord and Savior for ever and ever Amen.
